Matt Kenseth came late to the party and took home the prize—thanks to a spur-of-the-moment decision on pit road.

A two-tire call late in Sunday’s FedEx 400 at Dover International Speedway put Kenseth on the front row for a restart on Lap 367 of 400, and that was all Kenseth needed to secure his second Sprint Cup Series victory of the season and the 20th of his career.

Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards dominated most of the race by combining for 324 of 400 laps led. But Johnson and Edwards took four tires each on their last stops, which ended up costing both drivers an opportunity to win.

The top five drivers remained unchanged. Carl Edwards ran seventh to remain first with 416 points, 24 more than five-time defending series champion Jimmie Johnson, who was ninth Sunday.

Busch ran fourth and is third with 379 points. Dale Earnhardt Jr. was 12th and is fourth with 364 points, two more than Harvick, who was 10th.

Behind Kenseth are Clint Bowyer, Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart, Mark Martin and Greg Biffle. Stewart and Martin each fell three spots
