TEAM CHEVY IMPALA - INSIDE THE GARAGE AT AUTO CLUB SPEEDWAY – ALBA COLON, GM RACING PROGRAM MANAGER NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES:
“Our Chevy drivers and teams had a great showing during SpeedWeeks. We won the pole position, a Gatorade Duel qualifying race, the Bud Shootout, the Nationwide race, and the Daytona 500! We are really proud of Jamie McMurray for winning the biggest race of his life; and congratulate Earnhardt Ganassi Racing and ECR Engines in their prestigious victory. Team Chevy demonstrated the strength and depth of our competitors for 2010.
“With Daytona being so much different than the other tracks, we are anxious to see how things shake out in Southern California. We are looking forward to a good weekend there. We had a decent showing at the spring race last year, and came back to dominate in the fall by taking the top five finishing spots.
“Auto Club Speedway is a rugged two-mile track that provides many challenges. Since the cars are open throttle for long periods of time, it is especially tough in the engine department. We believe the valve train and pistons are the two areas that really will be tested. We count on two great powerhouses, HMS and ECR, and this will be the first real test of the improvements they have made during the off season. This race will also show us how our Impala race cars stack up against the competition. Our Chevy Teams have all really stepped-up, and we are looking forward to an exciting race this weekend.”
