TEAM CHEVY AT INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY – PAT SUHY, GM RACING NASCAR GROUP MANAGER:
“After a well deserved weekend off, Team Chevy’s Sprint Cup contingent will be arriving in Indy this week for the seventeenth running of the Brickyard 400. Chevy drivers have had great success at the track, bringing home eleven wins, including seven of the last seven. It’s not luck that got those wins, by any means. Indianapolis Motor Speedway is unique on the Sprint Cup tour, with long flat straightaways and only nine degrees of banking in each of the four corners. It takes a good car to be successful. The teams need to find that balance between drag and downforce that allows them to maximize speed on those long straightaways, and have good speed in the corners. Toward the end of the race, the pressure is really on the drivers and pit crews to have good fast stops to get the driver the best track position possible for the last fuel run of the race.
“With our proven track record in Indy, and a productive tire test in June for many of our teams, I’m looking forward to having another opportunity to “kiss the bricks” at the end of the race on Sunday with a Team Chevy driver and crew.”
