Pre-Race Interview With NASCAR Driver Kasey Kahne - Texas Motor Speedway

Question: Talk about racing at Texas this weekend.

Kasey Kahne: “I always look forward to racing at Texas, especially after Atlanta and the troubles we had there. Texas is always a track that we run pretty well at. We are running the same car that we ran second with at Charlotte so hopefully we can challenge for a top-five. In the spring race we had a top-10 car, but had an issue with our splitter that forced us to make a green-flag pit stop so we didn’t get the finish that we were capable of.”

Question: What separates Texas from the other mile-and-a-half tracks?

Kasey Kahne: “Getting into Turn One can be tricky. It is real flat and then as you are coming into the corner, you get into the banking. It’s almost like you fall into the corner at 190 miles per hour. Turn Three is similar but it is not as drastic. It is a difficult place to get your car to handle the way you want. It is a great track, but you really need your car to handle well on entry to be competitive.”

Question: What are your thoughts on NASCAR possibly changing their testing policy next season?

Kasey Kahne: “I think what NASCAR is doing is good. Without making any changes to the COT for next year, there’s no help there, they have to let us test more. The only way that we can put on better races is to be at these race tracks and test so that we’re prepared when we get to them. Everywhere that we’ve tested, as a team, we’ve raced better at those race tracks. I think that goes for everyone. Let us test. Let us figure these things out. Since NASCAR isn’t going to make changes (to the COT), then let us figure them out the best that we can and we’ll provide the best racing that we can.”
