NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick does not plan to let Brad Keselowski stray far from his organization.
Keselowski is believed to be headed to Penske Racing next season, in part because Hendrick Motorsports has no room in the lineup to promote him to the Sprint Cup Series. The Associated Press
“I’m not saying he’s going to be with us next year and I’m not saying he won’t be,” Hendrick said at Bristol Motor Speedway. “But wherever he goes, he’ll always be close enough for me to get him and bring him back.”
Hendrick then asked to “make sure all the other car owners know I said that.”
The 25-year-old Keselowski is the hottest young prospect in NASCAR, in large part to his surprise victory at Talladega in April.
“He’s a heck of a talent,” Hendrick said. “He’ll never be far enough away that I can’t find him and bring him back.” The Canadian Press
Sources indicate that Keselowski has a deal in place to drive for Penske Racing, likely to replace David Stremme in the No. 12 NASCAR Sprint Cup car, but he has not yet signed a contract.
Keselowski currently drives for JR Motorsports, co-owned by Hendrick and Dale Earnhardt Jr., in the Nationwide Series and for Hendrick and Hendrick-affiliate Phoenix Racing in the Sprint Cup Series. Scene Daily
