Fellows to Pilot No. 01 at Infineon Raceway
Veteran road course specialist Ron Fellows will pilot the Dale Earnhardt Inc. No. 01 Chevrolet in the Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway on June 22 with a goal of scoring maximum car owner points in the event. Leading rookie-of-the-year candidate Regan Smith will be back in the car the following week at Loudon.
No Stranger to DEI
Fellows is no stranger to Dale Earnhardt Inc., having competed in road course races for DEI in 2003-04. He finished seventh in 2003 at Infineon and second at Watkins Glen in 2004 in the DEI No. 1 Chevrolet.
Fellows’ NASCAR History
This will be Fellows’ 45th NASCAR start. The road course ace has compiled five wins, 12 top-fives, 16 top-10s and five poles in 44 combined starts in NASCAR’s top three series.
At Sonoma
This will be Fellow’s seventh career Cup start at Infineon Raceway, where he has completed 96.8 percent of his laps (641 of 662). The veteran has led 44 laps in Cup races at Sonoma. Fellows has one start at Sonoma in the Truck Series, starting eighth and finishing 11th in 1997. In addition, Fellows’ boasts three wins at Sonoma in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Last Season
Fellows ran both Sprint Cup road courses last season, finishing inside the top 15 in both outings, including a fourth-place finish at Watkins Glen. He led three laps in the Cup race at Infineon on the way to a 15th-place finish. In addition, he made three starts in the Nationwide Series in 2007, including a fourth-place finish at Montreal.

Included as part of his esteemed career in road racing, Fellows boasts three wins in 12 starts in the Nationwide Series and two wins in the Craftsman Truck Series.
No. 01 Team
Smith and the No. 01 team have shown significant progress in the past few races. He posted a season-high qualifying effort two weeks ago at Pocono (4th), en route to a 28th-place finish. He finished 21st in the team’s debut with new crew chief Dan Stillman just three weeks ago at Dover and 19th the previous week at Charlotte.
