Kyle Busch may be having the kind of season legends are made of, but don’t forget about Roush Fenway Racing when it comes to the championship chase.
Specifically, don’t forget about Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth.
They finished second and third to Busch at Daytona International Speedway, a track where Roush cars typically aren’t a major factor.
Had the race not ended under caution during the green-white-checkered finish, Edwards may have erased the inches that separated him from the points leader when the field was frozen.
Yes, Busch is the hottest driver on the planet with six wins, 11 top-5s and 12 top-10s in 18 starts. He’s on pace to challenge the modern day single-season record for wins—13 by Jeff Gordon in 1998 and by Richard Petty in 1975.
But Edwards and Kenseth aren’t having bad seasons either. Edwards has three wins and easily could have a couple more with three second-place finishes and a blown engine while in the lead at Atlanta.
