Teacher and his pupils—Boris Said has had a profound impact on NASCAR road racing, though he hasn’t won one of the Sprint Cup Series’ two annual visits to the courses in Sonoma and Watkins Glen.
Said reckoned that he has schooled 18 drivers in the field for this year’s race on the nuances of road racing in stock cars.
One was Kasey Kahne, the pole winner.
“You show them the difference between oval racing and road-course racing,” noted Said, who would like to run stock cars full-time. “It’s a different braking technique, and, really, they’re not used to going so slow into a corner, so just show them some basic stuff.
