Dave Connolly began his quest for a sixth straight Pro Stock victory Friday by posting a 6.754-second, 203.98-mph run in the day’s second session to claim the provisional No. 2 qualifying berth for Sunday’s ACDelco Nationals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
This event kicks off the final two races in the Countdown to One with Connolly holding a 10-point lead.
“The track kind of bit us in our first round (6.790 at 204.08), ” he said, “and it shook in second gear. We made some changes and are happy with the way it ran in the second session. “
He trails pacesetting Justin Humphreys by four-thousandths of a second going into Saturday’s final two qualifying attempts.
