Jack McCoy, a two-time champion and the winningest driver in the Camping World Series West, died Tuesday at the age of 72.
McCoy—who won series championships in 1966 and 1973—registered a record 54 series wins, along with a record 57 career poles in the series. NASCAR.COM
Before retiring from racing in 1974, McCoy won a record 54 races in the 1960s and 1970s in NASCAR’s regional series and won series championships in 1966 and 1973.
The stock car driver was inducted into the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame in 2002, a year after he wrote about his exploits in a book entitled “Racing’s Real McCoy.”
