Kerry Micks fought a battle on Sunday at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal and finished the Napa 100 in third. Micks is no stranger to the podium at Montreal as this is his fourth straight top three finish on the demanding and fast 14 turn 2.73 mile road course.
Micks, driving the Beyond Digital Imaging Ford Fusion, qualified in second on Saturday during the timed session and started from row one beside pole sitter Alex Tagliani.
The Beyond Digital Imaging Ford Fusion driver would lead the first eight circuits before being passed by J R. Fitzpatrick. The remaining 15 laps would have Micks doing battle with Andrew Ranger and D. J. Kennington. A late race caution would set up a green, white, checkered finish. A wild turn three incident which ended with Scott Steckly on his roof, and which Micks narrowly avoided, had the red flag flying and the race was called as complete.
The spec motor worked great today,” commented Micks after the race. “We are down on power a bit on the long straights here but NASCAR are working on parity between built and spec motors. The car handled great and my crew as usual did a great job. It’s great to come back here and get on the podium again.”
The finish had J. R. Fitzpatrick notching the win with Andrew Ranger in second. Following Micks across the finish line was D. J. Kennington and Mark Dilley.
