Piloting the Advance Auto Parts Funny Car, Cruz Pedregon, captured the pole position Saturday with a 4.834 second run at 314.97 mph. He will lead the 16-car field in Sunday’s final eliminations at the NHRA Spring Nationals.
“We’re taking it one round at a time,” said Pedregon. “Three of our four qualifying runs were great, but tomorrow is another day. Rahn [crew chief, Tobler] and I have been around long enough to know that our qualifying result will not help us tomorrow- we’re going to go out and earn it. We’re looking forward to the challenge.
“For all of our sponsors, particularly Advance Auto Parts, we’re proud of our progress so far. Tomorrow is a big day. It’s the home track for my family and many of my relatives will be in attendance, but we’re focused and not looking past the first round.”
