Larry Dixon was the top qualifier Friday at the ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals.
Dixon, who failed to qualifier in the season-opener at Pomona, raced to the qualifying lead for the second consecutive race.
“I think from the first two events we went to, the air is quite a bit better here, but because of the track temperature, you have a lot less grip,’’ said Dixon. “It seems like in years past here at Gainesville the first day is a little bit slower than the second day.”
Dixon made a top pass of 310.20 mph and led the Top Fuel qualifiers while Bob Tasca, Mike Edwards and Matt Smith were the top qualifiers in their respective classes.
