Earlier this week 14-time Funny Car champion John Force and recent O’Reilly Spring Nationals Funny Car winner Ashley Force Hood made a special appearance in Chelsea, Alabama for primary sponsor Castrol. For six months Castrol had a national contest for their Tire and Lube Express locations at Wal-Mart and in bracket elimination format the store from Chelsea came out on top with the highest car count and best Castrol GTX High Mileage sales in the country.
“This was a six month sales contest that had all the Wal-Mart Castrol branded stores, about 650 stores, competing against each other to see who could drive two things car counts and premium sales such as High Mileage Oil Services. The contest was structured like a basketball tournament. Every two weeks a store and district advanced if they won their bracket. We looked at store to store sales and market to market sales. The Chelsea, Ala., store had the best car count and Castrol GTX High Mileage sales in the nation,” said Steve Gunnells, BP Retail Operations Manager.
John Force and Ashley Force Hood signed autographs for two hours and the also met with the TLE staff and associates. The Mayor of Chelsea, Earl Nivens Sr. was also in attendance. A number of local media outlets also interviewed the NHRA drivers.
“The event was a complete success. We had just the right amount of fans. John and Ashley were very nice and everyone was impressed by them. The Chelsea community really appreciated this opportunity and it was a huge deal for us,” said Joey McKinstry Walmart store manager.
