A week long thrash consisting of testing and preparing for his first NHRA Pro Stock race of the year led Justin Humphreys into 14th position following Friday’s qualifying for Sunday’s ACDelco Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway.
His best run, 6.663 seconds at 207.55 mph, was 14th quickest and satisfied Humphreys and crew chief Frank Gugliotta.
“We only the four runs on the motor because we had testing issues,” said Humphreys. “It was a decent run. We know the direction we need to go” to improve the performance.”
A broken valve spring on his first run slowed the time to 6.705 at 198.79 mph.
Saturday’s two sessions will set the 16-car line-up for Sunday’s eliminations.
