It took Justin Humphreys two words to describe his Sunday performance in the opening round of the Lucas Oil Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway.
“It stinks,” he said after suffering a red-light start against Jeg Coughlin. Humphreys missed a perfect start by .014-second but did run his quickest time of the weekend, 6.64 seconds at 206.54 mph to Coughlin’s 6.663 at 206.54 mph.
“I’m going to have to change the way I do some things,” added Humphreys. “But the good news is we have a good race car now. The new motor Roy Johnson built is unreal. Now we’ll just get ready for the Reading race.”
