For the competitors meeting John Stancill for the first time in Las Vegas this weekend, the popular ad phrase “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” might be on their mind.
The 14 year-old competitor from Ayden, N.C. will head west this week to the 16th Annual RACEceiver Legends Car and Thunder Roadster Asphalt Nationals at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. His goal in Vegas is to be crowned a champion.
More than 200 drivers are pre-registered for the 3 day event, marking the largest group of pre-registered drivers in the series’ 16 year history.
Stancill, whose recent winning streak has all but locked up his bid for the Semi-Pro National Points Standings, is looking at the event as a springboard for his future career in motorsports.
After capturing over 30 wins in 55 starts since February, (28 wins in INEX Sanctioned events) the successful driver is contemplating a move to stock cars for next season.
“I am not sure what I’ll be in next season” Stancill stated “there are quite a few opportunities out there. We just have to decide which direction we want to go. It is still early. ”
While the championship will be Stancill’s first National title in the INEX Legends cars, the young driver is no “newbie” when it comes to capturing the season ending trophy. John and his eighteen year old brother Ben share a trophy room at their family farm that could humble the most successful NEXTEL Cup competitor.
The youngest of the Stancill clan, John boasts a mind blowing 13 career championships to his résumé, including three track championships, six state Championships (in NC & VA), three World Karting Association National Championships, and the 2007 Winternationals Championship in Orlando, FL.
