NHRA: Greg Stanfield Looking For More Series Points at Sonoma

Four races remain on NHRA’s regular schedule as Greg Stanfield and the Nitro Fish/Coffman Tank Trucks Pro Stock GXP team return to the Northern California wine country intent on solidifying his hold on a top-five position for the season-ending Countdown to the Championship.

Stanfield and crew chief Eddie Guarnaccia hope to shrug off a two-race performance dip in the FRAM/Autolite Nationals, Friday through Sunday, at Infineon Raceway.

Stanfield is fifth in Full Throttle series points with 753, four ahead of Allen Johnson and eight behind Vincent Nobile.

This event is the second of NHRA’s Western Swing events and follows last week’s race at Denver. The final Swing site is Seattle, Aug. 5-7.

The top 10 drivers in all pro categories qualify for the six-race Countdown that begins at Concord, N.C. Sept. 15-18.
