After opening Friday’s Arizona Nationals Pro Stock qualifying sessions with two mediocre runs at Firebird Raceway, Greg Stanfield summed up the performance in five words: “We aren’t running very well.”
On the positive side, there are two more quarter-mile laps waiting for the Nitro Fish/Coffman Tank Trucks GXP team on Tuesday’s schedule at noon and 2 p.m.
“We were too aggressive (on the tune-up) and the track couldn’t take it,” Stanfield continued.
“He opened the day with a 6.655-second, 206.95-mph run that was 15th quickest. On his second one, the time was a little slower, 6.695 at 209.84.”
“We will calm it down for tomorrow’s sessions. We will run better,” he forecasted.
