Tim Wilkerson smoked the tires twice on Saturday, driving his LRS Big Website Makeover Ford in Las Vegas, and the dual misplays cost him three spots in the field on the day. He will race from the No. 12 position and face Matt Hagan in round one on Sunday.
“Pretty disappointing, really, especially the second one,” Wilkerson said.
“It was a little bit of a tougher go out there in the first session today, with the sun beating on the track pretty hard, but the conditions really came around for the second one and you could hardly ask for a better track than that.”
“The sun got behind the grandstand and it got pretty good out there, but we overshot it I guess. I have to look at the data a little more, but my guess is we turned up the wick a little too much out there around half-track, and in drag racing greed is usually not good.”
Wilk can certainly play the role of spoiler on Sunday. Hagan is locked in a near dead-heat for the points lead, with Mike Neff and Jack Beckman. Neff will race Paul Lee in the opening round, and Beckman will face John Force.
