Tim Wilkerson put back-to-back solid runs on the board during the initial day of qualifying in Las Vegas, and the sum total for those two run was a 9th spot on the provisional grid. Two more qualifying runs are set for Saturday, in sunny Las Vegas.
“Not too bad, but we could’ve been a little better,” Wilkerson said.
“We actually spit a spark plug out at 3.5 seconds on the first run, and then the second one wasn’t spectacular but we were in some good company in that mid-teen range. It’s so tight right now, a couple of thousandths here or there moves you quite a bit on the ladder, and I don’t expect it to be any different tomorrow. It’s going to be tight and it’s going to be tense.”
“I guess we’re all taking our cue from that ballgame last night. That was as tight and tense as it gets, and I know a lot of us stayed up later than we wanted, watching that. That was one for the ages, there. We thought it was over and by the time my wife Krista and I got to the room, the Cardinals started their first comeback. We watched every pitch from then on, and that was pretty fun. I hope we can have some sort of fun like that here, this weekend, but I don’t want to have to save the day at the last second like St. Louis did. I’m not sure how they did that.”
