Tim Wilkerson battled a hot race track at the Texas Motorplex on this warm and sunny day, and despite coming up 0-for-2 he was still confident heading into race day. Very little movement took place on the grid, as nearly everyone slowed on a 125-degree track, and Wilk will race out of the No. 11 spot. He will face Jack Beckman in round one.
“It was a little tough out there, but we could’ve and probably should’ve done better,” Wilk said.
“We mowed through the clutch a little on the first run, and that unsettled things enough to mess up that pass, then we were doing okay in Q4, running down the right lane pretty good, when we dropped a hole on the left side and that moved me over toward the center line. It got in the marbles over there and there was no good going to come from that, so it was over.”
“We’ll be over there in the right lane tomorrow, probably for sure, so we have to take every little ounce of data out of that last run and find the answer for how we’re going to make it run to the end. If we do that, and I really do believe we will, I think we’ll be able to get by Jack in round one, and if that’s the case we can have a heck of a day and maybe look more like heroes instead of doofballs.”
“We’ve done it before, and we can do it again, so I’m looking forward to it. ”
