Martensen Motorsports has signed a deal with Sauza Tequila to sponsor off-road racer, Rob Martensen, at the Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) event at Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas, Texas on October 19-21. The sponsorship is a result of a lengthy negotiation that ultimately brings Martensen back to short course off-road racing.
“I am very excited about this opportunity with Sauza Tequila, ” said Martensen. “Not only have they been incredibly generous to work with, but they also allowed me the opportunity to get back to short course off-road racing, which is where it all began for me. “
Martensen has been racing for over 15 years and comes from a family of off-road and desert racers. His father, brother, uncle and cousins have either participated in or are currently involved in the sport as well. In fact, his uncle has won the Baja 1000 five times, overall. Martensen’s racing career runs the gamut. He has participated in race classes ranging from the Street Stock division and IMCA Modifieds to Mickey Thompson Stadium Racing, Shifter Karts, SCORE Lites and Class 1 unlimited divisions.
Martensen’s upcoming CORR race is divided into two series, Pro and Sportsman. The Pro Series is composed of three divisions: Pro 4 - full-size, 4-wheel race trucks, V8 engines, 800 horsepower; Pro 2 - full-size, 2-wheel race trucks, V8 engines, 800 horsepower; and Pro Lite - compact/mid-size, 2-wheel race trucks, 4 cylinder engines, 300+ horsepower. Martensen will be racing in the Pro-2 class in a vehicle sponsored by Sauza Tequila and Racer Offroad.
Martensen has enjoyed a successful career as a racer. In recent years, he has won the Parker 425, and placed in the top 10 at the Baja 500 and Baja 1000. Additionally, he placed in the top three at the Terrible’s Cup race in Las Vegas. In November, Martensen and his racing partners, Ken Losch and Peter Weiss, will tackle desert racing’s most challenging event - the Baja 1000 - moving up from a class-12 buggy to a Protruck.
“Racing has been a passion for me for more than half my life, ” said Martensen. “And with the incredible support of my family and friends, I have had the chance to accomplish some amazing things. I look forward to furthering my career in racing and hopefully, drive professionally for a team in the near future. ”
