San Antonio Speedway is building up the momentum for one of the biggest racing events of the year – this weekend’s Quality Pre-Owned’s 2nd Annual Alamo 200 ASA Late Model Series (ASA LMS) Challenge race presented by Express Lube.
An action-packed weekend is anticipated, starting with the Fajita Welcome Party for all ASA LMS teams and officials on Thursday, March 1, at 7:00 p. m.
Friday’s activities get started at noon as the ASA LMS teams from all over the country unload their rigs to get ready for their practice sessions at the speedway. The first ASA LMS practice session will begin at 5:00 p. m. on Friday, March 2, followed by practice sessions by the San Antonio Speedway Weekly Classes and the Texas Pro Sedans.
On Saturday, March 3, the pit gates will open at 10:30 a. m. to begin a full day of racing activities. The practice sessions will start at12:30 p. m., and qualifying begins at 4:00 p. m. The grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p. m., and an autograph session with the ASA LMS drivers is scheduled for 5:45 p. m. Saturday’s racing action will begin at 7:00 p. m. – featuring the San Antonio Speedway Road Runner and Sportsman classes and the Texas Pro Sedans.
The highlight of the evening will be the Alamo 200 ASA Late Model race – regarded by many as one of the most highly anticipated season openers in the history of San Antonio Speedway. So far, over 30 ASA LMS drivers from all over the nation have registered for the Alamo 200 – some of them making the long haul from states as far away as Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio. Several San Antonio drivers will also be competing in this big event – including Tommy Grimes, Tom Grothues and Lloyd Alexander.
The starting field for the Alamo 200 is limited to 28 cars, and the winner will take home $10,000. The competition for this prestigious event promises to be tough.
