Two big events are planned at the historic Birmingham (AL) International Raceway in early July. The first event is Round Four (4) of the Birmingham Super Series for Pro Late Models on Tuesday July 3, 2007 with a 100 lap feature.
The second is the first visit to the 94-year-old oval for the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division on Saturday July 14, 2007. All is well except for one rule the ASALMS drivers must abide. There is no testing at a speedway within 10 days before a scheduled event. Luckily for the ASALMS Teams, the BIR Super Series event is 11 days before the ASALMS visits the speedway.
“We have received some calls from ASALMS drivers interested in running our Super Series race on the 3rd. ” according to Ray Tennyson, Co-Promoter at BIR. “The ASALMS drivers are welcome to come run and get their cars set up for their event. “
Joining the ASALMS Southern Division on Saturday July 14, 2007 will be the BIR Super Modifieds, Sportsmen, Mini Modifieds, Street Stocks, Renegades, and Buzz Cars for an action packed Seven in One show! The entry form for the Crimson 125 will be available beginning on Thursday June 28, 2007.
In the first three races of the BIR Super Series, Gary Sanford Jr., took the first win on March 24, 2007 while Hoover, Alabama pilot, Chris Serio picked up the win in the second show on April 28, 2007 during the Davey Allison Memorial 100. Last Saturday night, June 9, 2007 part-time ASALMS competitor and former winner in the ASALMS Southern Division, Chelsea, Alabama’s, Josh Hamner started scratch on the field and won the Steeldogs 100!
