Teen racer Austin Hogue claimed the first top three finish in his Allison Legacy career last week at Elkin, N.C. ’s Friendship Speedway.
After qualifying rained out and the starting lineup set by season points, Hogue drove his No. 52 BAPS Paint Supply car to third place and earned the Hard Charger award for the race, beating out fellow Future Stars in Racing Academy member Josh Butler for the final podium position.
“We had a good day, ” said Hogue. “When we unloaded, we were close, then made some adjustments in practice and just got the car better. ”
Hogue is currently sixth in Legacy points, with two other fellow Academy members ahead of him, Josh Butler in third and Rookie of the Year leader Ryan Glenski fourth. The next race on his calendar is slated for Peach State Speedway at Jefferson, Ga. On June 2.
Hogue is being helped in his career by Future Stars in Racing Academy: learning public speaking; sponsor presentations; working with the media and behavior on and off the track.
