Mike Balzano and E1 Racing paid a visit to Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH this past Friday for the very first Independent Racing Series (IRS) sanctioned event. After getting rained on in Ohio, Mike found himself in Hagerstown, MD for the $10,000 to win ‘Stanley Schetrompf Classic’ sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
Balzano and team started off the dreary night at Hilltop Speedway on a high note by being the 14th fastest qualifier out of the 45 cars that took time. Mike finished the first heat race in the second position behind former World 100 winner Matt Miller. After the heat races the skies opened up and track and series officials were forced to postpone the remainder of the event until this Friday, May 4th. Mike will start the 50-Lap, $5,000 to win A-Main in the 9th position.
