Dexter Bean seems to be making a statement early in the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) season. His statement consists of consistency, determination and domination. While two of the three points have been made clear within the last three races, Bean hopes to put a period to domination in Sunday’s Winchester ARCA 200 at Winchester Speedway.
On the heels of a third straight top-10 finish, Bean has moved to third in championship standings sitting just twenty markers from eight-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Frank Kimmel. What a turnaround year it has been. Last season, Bean motored into Winchester looking to keep in the same zip code as the reining champ. This weekend with another positive finish Bean could surpass the veteran and be on his way towards making Wisconsin history.
“Life is pretty good, ” said Bean. “We’re starting to pick up right where we ended last season and that could be bad news for the rest of the competition. ”
Indeed, at the end of his rookie season, Bean roared to life with one top-five, one pole and three top-10 finishes just missing four consecutive top-10s in a row with a 11th at Salem Speedway after claiming the pole at one of ARCA’s most demanding short tracks.
With a season-best qualifying performance of second two weeks ago at Salem Speedway, Bean answered that with a stunning and impressive runner-up finish leading up to a load of confidence as the ARS returns to the third short track race of the season.
“I feel like we can win this weekend, plain and simple, ” continued Bean. “We were close at Salem. If we had one more restart, I think we would have won the race. But, we’ve worked even harder on that same car since Salem and we’re bringing a bullet to Winchester this weekend and I hope everyone is chasing us. ”
