“It s nice to be back in familiar territory. ” Those words express ARCA RE/MAX Series leading Rookie-of-the-Year contender Phillip McGilton feelings about Saturday s Nashville ARCA 150 from Nashville Superspeedway.

The first two races (Daytona and Lakeland) of the season presented new strategies, a lot of learning and patience for the Marion, Illinois native. Now, McGilton returns to “Music City” sitting third in driver points after two solid runs and hungry for a win.

McGilton, a Brewco Motorsports developmental driver is no stranger to the 1.333-mile track after making his NSS (Nashville Superspeedway) debut last August. After qualifying a then career best 15th, he bolted himself towards the front and appeared to be in contention for a strong finish, before engine failure put the No. 42 SI Performance Ford out of the event.

This weekend, McGilton will be partnered up with Brewco Motorsports, who scored a pole and finished in the top-three in both ARCA events there last season. After nailing the third fastest lap overall in the recent ARCA open test session, McGilton knows he has an opportunity to keep the pole streak and strong finishes alive.

“We have a great car for this weekend, ” said McGilton. “My guys at Brewco Motorsports have been working hard for this event and I really like Nashville. If we continue to use patience and let the race come to us, I think we ll be around for the end and have a chance at bringing home the coveted Gibson guitar trophy. ”
