Cars And Stars of USMTS Modified Touring Series Makes First Appearance at I-70 Speedway

Late Model: “Cars And Stars” of USMTS Modified Touring Series Makes First Appearance at I-70 Speedway

The “Cars and Stars” of the USMTS Modified Touring Series sponsored by O’Reilly Auto Parts Made their first appearance at the Dirt Track at I-70 Speedway. On the seventh night of a fourteen night swing, the seventh different winner graced victory lane at I-70. “This is a challenging race track, fun to race on and I really liked it, especially tonight” was the comment from Greg Skaggs, USMTS feature winner.

A combination of 30 USMTS regulars and area modofieds checked in. Through four heat races and two “B” features, 24 drivers qualified for the “A” feature. Leading the pack to the finish line was the #27 car driven by Greg Skaggs. Right on Skaggs tail was the #3 of Kelly Shryock, 222 Dustin Boney, 7 Al Hejna, 00 Jesse Stovall, 5 Steve Holzkamper, 12 Jonny Bone Jr., 51 Eddie Martin, 31j Jeremy Rasmussen, 49x Jay Poidinger, 48 Jimmy Dowell, 8r Darrin Roberts, I-70 regular 26s Steven Glenn, 31 Cory Dripps, 96 Chad Lyle, 09 Josh Stephens, 90 Terry Schultz, 37 Jeremy Chambers, 17s Mike Spaulding, 33z Jack VanderBeek, Odessa’s own 00m Jim Moody, 25 Scott Green, 12 Jason Hughes and the 02 of Tommy Weder Jr. All in all, drivers represented seven states including, Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

In the Stock Car feature, Russell Walter crossed the finish line first followed by I-70 modified regular Chad Shaw, Gene Stiggall, Thomas Roberts, Travis Taylor, Wade Sherman, Jerry Schmidt and Trent Deadman.

Next up at the I-70 Dirt Track will be “Five Dollar Friday” where all general admission tickets are only $5.00. Friday’s featured classes will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods, Sport Compacts and Farm Truck Racing. Pit Gates open at 5:00; Admission Gates open at 6:00. Hot Laps begin at 7:30 with Racing at 8:15.
