The price of gas didn’t stop eleven-year-old Caylie Duncanson from racing her Bandolero car in three races over the weekend.
Duncanson began the weekend early Friday night at Madison International Speedway in the mixed Bandolero series of “young guns” and “bandits” race cars. Duncanson started in the fourth position and raced consistently, finishing the 15 lap race in the fourth position.
The race went very well, and I had so much fun, ” Duncanson said.
Duncanson packed up and headed to her next race at Rockford Speedway in Rockford, IL. She qualified and started on the pole for Saturday night’s race.
“It felt really good to start on the pole, ” Duncanson said. “I knew I had to do a lot to get up there and stay there all night, ” she added.
Duncanson finished the 20 lap race of the mixed “young guns” and “bandits” cars in the fourth position, and second in her class of Bandolero bandits.
Duncanson’s weekend ended with a bang Sunday as she raced again at Rockford, where she started her heat race on the pole.
She started the 15 lap feature event in the second position. The race ran without caution and she finished third.
“The car handled well, but it was a little bit loose, ” Duncanson said.
