ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Chad McCumbee took his first ARCA RE/MAX Series win at Pocono Raceway June 9 in a car set up and powered by Petty Enterprises. McCumbee charged from one lap down and passed Dexter Bean for the lead and the win on Lap 76 of 80. He crossed the finish line an impressive 2.792 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.
McCumbee earned his previous career-best second-place finish at Pocono in 2005. Tim Andrews placed third, Jeremy Clements placed fourth and Mario Gosselin finished fifth. Four-time Kentucky Speedway race winner and eight-time series champ Frank Kimmel captured a seventh-place finish and maintained the lead in the series standings with his seventh top-10 finish of the campaign through 10 events. The series moves on to Michigan International Speedway for a June 15 200-mile tussle. David Stremme won the 2006 event at the track. Chuck Weber started the race from the pole position.
The Top 10 in the series standings entering the event will be: Kimmel (Leader, Ford, 2,395), Justin Allgaier (Second, Chevrolet, - 110), Bobby Gerhart (Third, Chevrolet, -135), Bean (Fourth, Chevrolet, -155), Michael McDowell (Fifth, Toyota, -250), Phillip McGilton (Sixth, Ford, -315), Justin South (Seventh, Dodge, -405), Justin Marks (Eighth, Dodge, -515), Bryan Silas (Ninth, Chevrolet, -590) along with Patrick Sheltra (10th, Chevrolet, -595 (tied)) and Jason Hedlesky (10th, Ford, -595 (tied)).
