CRA Super Series points leader Chris Gabehart also leads the Scott Performance Wire Four State Challenge standings, an award program based upon four selected CRA Super Series points events in the four states the series will have points events in 2007. The Scott Performance Wire Four State Challenge began with the Spring Clash 150 CRA Super Series season opening event at the Music City Motorplex at the Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee on April 1st. The second event was on June 2nd at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio.
The next event in the Scott Performance Wire Four State Challenge will be this Monday’s McGunegill Engine Performance 100 Presented By Great Deals at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana. That event will be part of the Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival Presented By Maple-Tarr Chrysler Dodge Jeep. The final event of the Challenge will be the Boyne Machine 125 Presented By Centennial Wireless and Spray Power at Berlin Raceway located in Marne, Michigan on September 15th.
The Scott Performance Wire Four State Challenge will pay the driver who gets the most series points in the four events a $600 bonus and a set of Scott Performance Wires. The second place driver in the Scott Performance Wire Four State Challenge will receive a $400 bonus. The third place driver in the Scott Performance Wire Four State Challenge will receive a $200 bonus. Scott Performance Wire will also award the 2007 CRA Super Series Champion with a set of Scott Performance Wires and an additional set of Scott Performance Wires that will be given away by random draw of the top fifteen teams in final series points at the 2007 series awards banquet.
Gabehart currently holds a 15-point lead over Rookie Of The Year contender John Van Doorn in second. Gabehart’s fifth place finishes in both the Nashville and Columbus events and he was the second fast qualifier at Nashville and the fast qualifier at Columbus, giving him his current lead in the Challenge. VanDoorn finished 23rd at Nashville, but rebounded with a second place finish at Columbus. 2006 series Champion Scott Hantz is third 24 points behind Gabehart, JR Roahrig and Bobby Parsley are tied for fourth 26 points behind Gabehart, but neither is entered for this weekend’s event. Jeff Lane is currently in sixth place, 32 points behind Gabehart.
