TC Motorsports owners Tammy and C. E. Clower have announced that Louisville, Kentucky native Chuck Barnes Jr. will compete in their ARCA RE/MAX Series racecar again in the Eddie Gilstrap Motors ARCA Fall Classic 200 at Salem Speedway on Saturday, September 15th. Barnes Jr., who has been working at Petty Enterprises since the end of July, will be making his first ARCA RE/MAX Series start since last season’s Fall Classic ARCA event at Salem, were he fought back from an early flat tire to get a fourth place finish. Barnes won his first ever ARCA RE/MAX Series event in his first start in September last year at Toledo Speedway, beating eight time series Champion Frank Kimmel.
“I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the TC Motorsports car at Salem, ” remarked Barnes Jr. “I have to thank Tammy and C. E. Clower for giving me this great opportunity, I’m really looking forward to racing with the ARCA RE/MAX Series again at my home track. It’s also Frank’s home track, he’s won a bunch of races there, hopefully it can come down to the two of us again in front of a packed house of local race fans! ”
Barnes Jr. was the 2006 Salem Speedway Late Model Champion, he has a Street Stock Championship also at Salem along with numerous victories in three different divisions on the Southern Indiana High Banks. Barnes Jr. was the 2004 CRA Super Series Champion and won the prestigious All American 400 late model event at the Music City Motorplex in Nashville in 2004.
“I haven’t gotten to race much this season, I did some races early in the year in Darryl Hadley’s late model at Salem. I miss being behind the wheel, but I really have enjoyed working at Petty Enterprises so far. I have learned a lot, and I hope to learn a lot more working with the Petty organization. I’m still at awe when I see the “King” Richard Petty at the shop, it is just neat to be around him and the whole Petty team. ”
