After a miserable and uncharacteristic finish earlier this month at USA International Speedway in the 2007 United Speed Alliance Racing (USAR) Hooter’s Pro Cup Series season opener, veteran driver Daniel Johnson is planning a major comeback with the start of his season beginning with Saturday’s Glover Foods 250 from South Georgia Motorsports Park.
Reviewing Lakeland, Johnson and his Johnson Motorsports (JMS) team consider the event their “free space” for the season and vow for their season to turnaround beginning with the second event of the season.
“Lakeland is over and gone,” said the North Carolina native. “It was a disappointing weekend for our team. We had some mechanical circumstances that prevented us from running up front. We’ve regrouped heavily and we’re looking to get back on track on Saturday night.”
Sitting deep in the points, Johnson realizes that a solid finish would maneuver the team through the point standings and keep the hope alive to win the Hooter’s Pro Cup championship. “Everyone has a bad race in a season, Lakeland was ours,” he recalled.
