The drivers are here because they truly love what they do and the fans can appreciate people like that. It doesn’t matter who you are or who your sponsor is (if you have one). This is about having the talent to take a car in the turn sideways at 100 mph and come out straight on the other side.
Superstars like NASCAR greats Bill Elliott and Jody Ridley got their starts at Dixie. Current heroes like Tony Stewart, Kasey Kane, Carl Edwards, and Ken Schrader all got their start on dirt tracks like Dixie.
$20,000 in total prize money is up for grabs during the season opener on Saturday night, May 5 for all divisions including Econo and Super bombers, Crate Engine Sportsman, Cruisers, Limited Late Models and Super Late models competing in the main event.
“To win opening night is a big deal at this level. Fans will probably see drivers running harder and more aggressive than usual because a victory will most likely kick off the momentum for the rest of the year.
Gates open Saturday night at 5 PM with action getting under way at 7 PM. Adult grandstand tickets are $13, students ages 9 – 17 are $6 and children 8 and under are free. Trackside / tailgate parking is $16 per person and pit passes are $21 per person. Four wheeler / golf cart passes are $10 per vehicle.
