“Before the running of the Allen Crowe 100 Memorial I said it would be fun or funny since I had only raced on dirt twice before, ” said ARCA RE/MAX rookie Dominick Casola. “It turned out to be fun. With the great tutoring from Andy Belmont we were able to finish 13th and we were on the lead lap with the A. Casola Farms Ford. ”
The Holmdel, NJ racer started 15th in the Allen Crowe 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois on Sunday by virtue of his car owner, Belmont Motorsports, being 16th in the point standings. There was no qualifying because of rain.
Practice sessions on the one-mile-dirt oval saw Casola running 18th fastest in practice sessions turning the track in 34.666 seconds with a speed of 103.848 mph.
“It was a very good day for us. We managed to run as high as third in the race and ran fourth for much of the race ahead of some of the veteran ARCA talents. We had hoped for a top ten but with my very limited experience on dirt we did well, ” commented Dominick. “The team gave me a great car though it did get a little tight due to tire wear. The day on dirt turned out to be a lot of fun. I am looking forward to the next dirt track race which comes up on September 2nd at the Duquoin, Illinois Fairgrounds. ”
The A. Casola Farms Ford team heads to Chicagoland Speedway for a practice session for the ARCA RE/MAX Series racers on Tuesday, August 21st, and then on to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the Sunday, August 26th Governor’s Cup 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race on the Milwaukee Fairgrounds Mile.
“It will be great to be back on the pavement (Milwaukee is a one-mile asphalt track), ” said Casola. “We will have a strong car ready and look to get another top ten to our credit and perhaps move up from our 16th spot in the point standings. I am excited about the race. ”
