Young Georgian John Wes Townley will be pulling double duty as race driver this weekend in Iowa Speedway’s weekend program of an ASA race and a NASCAR Busch East Series race.
“It’s going to be rough, going to be tiring, going to be fun, ” said Townley. Planning an ambitious schedule of over 30 races, Townley has been signed as a development driver with the famed Wood Brothers racing team after coming up through karts, Bandoleros, Legends Cars and Late Models and a fifth-place finish last year in the ASA Southern Division Late Models.
“This past weekend, we were in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, ” he said. “It’s a pretty neat little place up there. It’s a great race track. If you miss your line, you’re pretty much hoodooed then. You have to worry about how consistent you are. ”
