May 21, 2007

With a double header of racing action on tap at Madison International Speedway this weekend, the Friday night schedule will take on a slightly new twist. Scheduled to race on Friday night will be the Weaver Auto Parts Madison Late Models and the Roto Rooter Bandits. The Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models will be racing on Saturday night as part of the Hooters Pro Cup event.

The MIS quarter mile will also host the second annual “Faster Pastor” race on Friday night. “This was a big hit last year and we have scheduled two races for this season, ” said MIS promoter Dave Grueneberg. “We are also going to have special events this years for area disc jockeys and sports broadcasters. We want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to race on our quarter mile. At this time the racing lineup has not been finalized but MIS Track Chaplain Todd Christopherson is ready to take on all comers. ”

Times for Friday night racing will also be slightly different with Weaver Auto Parts Madison Late Model qualifying at 7:30 and racing at 8:00. Adult admission is only $8.00 for Friday night and those who purchase tickets may use them for $5.00 off admission for Saturday night’s race featuring the national USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Division.

“It’s going to be a big weekend of racing at MIS, ” added Grueneberg who indicated that the front stretch pit wall will have to be put up after Friday night’s races to accommodate the infield pits and live pit stops for Saturday night’s race.
