Stock Car: Dustin Delaney Returns To Carter-2-Motorsports In Time For DuQuoin Showdown Carter-2-Motorsports

ARCA RE/MAX Series newbie Dustin Delaney returns to the seat of the No. 48 FreeFeds.org Dodge Charger Monday at DuQuoin State Fairgrounds retaking the wheel from veteran Carl Long after Delaney was forced to sit out Friday’s Gateway ARCA 150.

Current ARCA RE/MAX Series rules and regulations states that a competitor must be 18 years or older to compete in a track one-mile or higher and with Delaney showcasing his talent at the tender age of 17, the rules did not benefit the upcoming driver forcing the change.

“I’m glad to be back behind the wheel of the Carter-2-Motorsports Dodge at DuQuoin,” said Delaney, a native of New York. “I understand ARCA’s rules and respect them. I thank Carl (Long) for stepping in and helping out the team. He’ll be back at Chicagoland before I return to the seat at Salem Speedway. I think it’s a huge benefit to this team to have a veteran like Carl in the seat. He’s teaching this team a lot and it will help us all out not only for this year but for next year too.”

Delaney heads to DuQuoin aiming to make his third career ARS start. In his two previous races, Delaney impressed despite a disappointing showing at The Milwaukee Mile a week ago.

Refocusing his tune, Delaney heads to his second dirt race of the season looking to reproduce the strong 14th place finish he acquired at Springfield (Illinois State Fairgrounds) last month.

“I really enjoyed the dirt. I had a blast. The guys on the Carter-2-Motorsports team gave me a great piece and they tell me we’ll have even a better car for Monday’s race. Good things are happening at Carter-2-Motorsports and were all looking forward to showing that on the track.”

Car owner Roger Carter II offered his two-cents on Delaney’s return to the team.

“Obviously, we’re thrilled to have Dustin back on the dirt,” Carter II said. “He showed a lot of talent in his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut and the kid has talent. I know that he’s looking to duplicate if not better his performance on Monday and he should have the equipment to do it.”

The Free Feds Foundation (FreeFeds.org) will sponsor Delaney as he attempts to make his third career ARCA start on Labor Day.

FreeFeds.org’s sole purpose is to gain public support for adding parole for non-violent, non repeat offenders to the federal prison system. They are of the belief that the federal justice system is in need of a total reform. The organization, however, is mainly interested in working toward adding a system of parole for non-violent offenders as part of that overall reform.

In addition to FreeFeds.org, Explore America, The Idaho Observer, RVrentToGo.com, 100fold.net, and Accelerating Developments International (ADI) will join the team’s effort in the 25th RE/MAX Series event held at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.

“Not only am I surrounded by a team that believes me, but my sponsors are behind me 150 percent. As a rookie that means a lot. The race isn’t televised but if we can run in the top-10, we’re going to turn some heads and that’s my primary goal heading into the Southern Illinois 100,” offered Delaney.
