Trivia For Renault’s Romain Grosjean |
Earl Pearson Jr. and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team competed at three events over the past week and won the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event at Farley Speedway in Farley Iowa on Friday May 18th. Starting 15th in the stellar field Earl worked his way to the front on the racy ½ mile track and was battling Steve Shaver for the top spot by lap 20 of the 50-lap event. Shaver would suffer mechanical failure with his machine giving the lead to Pearson on lap 27. Earl would go on and lead the remaining 23 laps to earn his 7th career victory on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and his 2nd win on the series in 2007. The win was worth $10,000 to Earl and vaulted him into third place only 5 points out of second place Don O’Neal in the series national point’s standings. Earl the 2005 and 2006 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Champion is looking to win the series championship three times in a row and the first driver in history to ever win four dirt late model touring series national championships in a row.
“It was a great race and the track was really racy tonight. It’s always fun to be able to come from the back to the front and have a clean race with all these professional racers. I have to thank my crew Jason and Matt for giving me such a well prepared car tonight. Those guys really give me a chance to win every night we unload. We may miss the setup ever now and then but that’s usually my fault, but usually they have my car capable of winning every time we unload” stated Earl.
Earl and the LifeLong Locks, Lucas Oil, Mastersbilt Chassis also competed at a World of Outlaw Late Model Series sanctioned event last Wednesday at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN. Earl would win his heat race and start 4th in the 50-lap feature event. Earl would move into second place early on in the feature and maintained a solid runner -up finish to Dennis Erb at the checkers. Then on Saturday May 19th Earl and the team competed again on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle IL. Earl would finish 3rd in his heat race and started 12th in the 50-lap $10,000 to win feature event. Earl would advance into the top ten but the track soon locked downed making passing a premium. Earl would ride out the remaining laps and finished 8th in the final run down. For the week Earl and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team posted one win, two top five finishes and three top ten finishes in three events.
The Bobby Labonte Racing Team will travel to West Plains, MO on Memorial Day Weekend and compete in the “Show-Me 100” at West Plains Speedway May 25-26th. Then on Sunday May 27th Earl and the team will compete at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL for the Fed-Ex 50 that pays $10,000 to the winner.
