Mark Webber says his goal for the Canadian Grand Prix weekend is to taste more champagne on Sunday afternoon.
Webber has finished in the points in every grand prix of the 2010 season and expects his run to continue at a circuit he enjoys, although he does not expect the RB6 to be as competitive as in previous races.
“However, I don’t expect the track to suit the RB6 as much as, say, Barcelona or even Monaco because the high top speeds achieved by some of our rivals - particularly those using an ‘F-duct’ - will leave us a bit vulnerable in the race.”
“The car will still be good through the twisty sections, so my goal for the weekend is to taste more champagne on Sunday afternoon.” ESPN F1
Britain’s Lewis Hamilton has said that Red Bull Racing’s dominance won’t last and that McLaren-Mercedes will catch up.
Hamilton took his first win of the F1 2010 season two weeks ago in Turkey and he is now third in the drivers’ championship - four points behind his team-mate, Jenson Button and nine behind current leader, Mark Webber.
“Red Bull are still the guys we want to chase and beat,” Hamilton said, ahead of this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. “They’ve got the fastest car, not the best but the fastest at the moment - and that will soon change.”
“I’m back in the championship [after my win in Istanbul] but that’s the way it is with these new championship points. By no means am I whooping and cheering though.” Yahoo! Eurosport
Button, the 2009 champion, currently second in the drivers’ standings, said he is overwhelmed by the progress McLaren have made since the start of the season and that he has loved contributing to their success.
Button said: “I’ve been in teams before where we’ve perhaps started the season strongly, or we’ve had a bit of a performance improvement towards the end of the season, but I’m really overwhelmed by how much this team can just keep developing.
“Now we’re into an incredibly tough series of races, and we’re still bringing these huge new development parts to the track, and we’re bringing enough parts for both Lewis and myself - it’s awesome.
“Canada is always an unpredictable weekend - it’s a bit of a one-off, which is great for Formula 1 - and I think this year’s race has all the ingredients for a classic.” Montreal Gazette
