Jenson Button is under orders to seal a world championship double with a bang in Brazil.
His boss Ross Brawn believes the 29-year-old can win the drivers’ title in style at the penultimate race of the season in Sao Paulo on October 18, and clinch the team title too.
Button stuttered to finish eighth in Japan at the weekend - but it means he needs only six points to become champion.
Brawn GP also missed wrapping up the constructors’ championship by half a point on Sunday after a dubious stewards decision not to strip Nico Rosberg of fifth.
“It probably wouldn’t have been the nicest way to have won a championship with someone getting demoted,” said Brawn.
“Let’s finish it with a bang at the next race.
“You never feel right until it’s mathematically done.
“If we’d done it at Suzuka it would be an unusual set of circumstances, it’s fair to say. Mirror.co.uk
Jenson Button says he will be proud of helping Brawn to the Formula One constructors’ title at the Brazil Grand Prix – even if he does not clinch his own world championship.
The 2009 newcomers need just one more point to claim glory and Button, who is on the brink of taking the drivers’ title, believes it will cap a remarkable season. Daily Star
