The Geisler Racing team and 2006 Lernerville Speedway Track Champion, Lynn Geisler has had some bad luck the past couple weeks in his #1 Cochran Automotive/Marshall Stamping/Groff Tractor & Equipment Inc. /Tri-State Hose & Supply/Bolea Oil/Hoosier Race Tire/Rocket Chassis GTO but finally put together a solid second place finish this past Friday in preparation for the much anticipated World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned Firecracker 100 this upcoming weekend at Lernerville Speedway.
Geisler’s unfortunate luck started on #1 Cochran Automotive night two weeks ago at Lernerville Speedway. Lynn was on the verge of a solid top five finish until he made contact with another competitor coming out of the second turn. The contact broke the right front spindle on Lynn’s Rocket Chassis sending him into a spin. The damage sent Lynn to the pits with a 21st place finish.
The next night at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway, local hot-shoe and 2003 Mid-Atlantic Championship Series Rookie of the Year Keith Barbara filled in for Geisler as Lynn attended his niece’s wedding. Keith’s night subbing for Geisler got off to a rough start after two cars spun ahead of him leaving Barbara nowhere to go. Keith made contact with one of the cars bending the front clip pretty severely. The ‘Geisler Gang’ as well as the Forbes Field Motorsports team worked together to get a new front end on in time for the feature event. By virtue of the accident in the heat, Keith had to start at the tail of the 20-car field. Barbara used the low line during the 25-lap A-Main to work his way up to a fourth place finish behind race winner Lou Bradich, Dennis Niederriter, and Steve Baker. “It was fun driving for Lynn this weekend, ” Keith stated. “I felt bad about bending it up in the heat but that’s the way things goes sometimes. I’m glad we were able to get a good finish to keep Lynn on top of the point standings. I’ve watched Lynn race my whole life and to actually get to drive his car was a thrill. He’s a great guy, I hope we can work together again in the future. ” “Keith did a great job filling in, ” commented Geisler. “Things happen out there that you just can’t control. The guys got the car back together and Keith worked his way up through the field nicely. We got a lot of good feedback from Keith that should help not only us, but Keith’s racing program as well. ”
This past weekend also had it’s up’s and down’s. On Friday Lynn was locked in an intense battle with eventual race winner Matt Lux, and Alex Ferree during the 25-lap feature at Lernerville Speedway. Geisler was able to hold off Ferree for his best Lernerville finish of the season, second. Lynn’s bad luck continued the next night at PPMS when after his strong heat race win the team found terminal damage in the motor and would not be able to compete in the feature event.
This Friday and Saturday the team will be at Lernerville Speedway for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned Firecracker 100 paying $30,000 to the winner. The team also has tentative plans to attend the Red Miley Memorial at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway this Sunday. The 53-lap event will pay $5,300 to the winner in honor of the late Red Miley.
