Ohio-based dirt Late Model stars George ‘The General’ Lee of Loudonville, OH and Trevor ‘Hulkster’ Phillips have a busy weekend coming up in addition to some exciting team news to share. Lee races the Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines Ford Fusion #21 while Phillips competes in his Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines Ford Fusion #6 with both carrying sponsorship from Maibach Ford of Orrville, OH, Valvoline Oil, Bishop Collision & Repair Center, American Payroll Advance, Cowen Truck Lines, Hague Crystal Clear Water, Mason Racin’, Bert Transmission, Hoosier Racing Tire and Reliable Mold.
Lee has five total wins on the season so far, with four of them coming at Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH and the most recent this past Sunday in his back up car. “We started 12th in the feature and I did not believe the top groove would come in, I really didn’t, ” recalled Lee. “But I was running on the bottom groove and it just wasn’t happening and I passed a couple cars but then thought, ‘I’ve got to go! (laughs)! So I jumped on the high side and there was a whole different race track up there and it was fun (laughs)! To have four wins at one track, its unbelievable. ”
“I was talking to Charlie Duncan and I’ve got more wins today, in June this season, and the most I ever won in one season was four. And we have surpassed that. Everything is clicking. The crew is clicking, our equipment, we’re trying to stay on top of it. When you race hard like we have been, you have to stay on top of the equipment which is why we brought the back up car out so we could go through the primary car from A to Z. ”
“The crew is great, they are walking with an attitude if you know what I mean. The spirits are up and we just want to keep going forward. ”
On Saturday night Lee competed at Muskingum County Speedway where Lee started 12th and finished eighth.
On Sunday at Hilltop Speedway Trevor Phillips finished 13th in the main event.
In other Team GLR news sponsor Maibach Ford in Orrville, OH recently had a special ‘Sell-A-Thon’ at their large location and the #21 Rocket Chassis of the General was on display throughout the sale.
Trevor Phillips will be missing from area dirt tracks from July 7 through July 26 as he tours Europe as a graduation present from his older brother. There is a chance a substitute driver may be in the Rocket Chassis #6. Any announcement will be forthcoming from Team GLR.
This weekend Team GLR will tentatively be in action at Attica Raceway Park (Friday), Muskingum County Speedway (Saturday) and Hilltop Speedway (Sunday).
