After over a month off from competition, the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division Presented by GM Performance Parts is finally at the end of a lengthy break as the ASALMS Southern Division family of of crews, drivers, fans, officials, and teams are now on the road and making the trip to the Peach State for two very pivotal races that will definitely play a major role in the outcome of the remainder of the 2007 season.
The South Georgia 125 Presented by McDonalds at the South Georgia (GA) Motorsports Park, which was set for Saturday June 2, 2007 was postponed due to the raging wildfires in the area at the time! That has been rescheduled for Friday September 14, 2007 and is now the Sixth race of the season and part of a Doubleheader weekend in the Peach State!
Then the next day, Saturday September 15, 2007 the ASALMS Southern Division contingent will travel North to the New Senoia (GA) Raceway, located Southwest of Atlanta in Senoia, Georgia for the Seventh race of the 2007 season and complete the Georgia Doubleheader weekend with the running of the Senoia 125 Presented by FLF Racecars.
Joining the ASALMS Southern Division at South Georgia will be the SGMP Super Stocks and Pure Stocks while the next day, the Senoia divisions of Icemen, Sportsman, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks will join in on the action for a big five in one show on Saturday night.
Heading into the Georgia Doubleheader Weekend, Loxahatchee, Florida Freshman, Jeff Choquette is leading both the ASALMS Southern Division Overall and Rookie of the Year Points Leads based on his third straight podium finish and his first career ARP Bodies/Aluminum Racing Products Fast Qualifier Award at the last event at the Orange County (NC) Speedway back on August 11, 2007.
The 20-year-old Choquette will carry a 34-point lead over previous leader, fellow Sunshine State Rookie, and 20-year-old, Sean Bass (804-770). While in the GM Performance Parts Shootout Points Standings, Palm Coast, Florida driver, Ricky D. Rubin, who is not entered for the Georgia Doubleheader Weekend, leads by just three points over Jeremy Gerstner (117-114).
Also of note, there will be no Live Internet Broadcast of either race in the Peach State. The ASALMS Southern Division contingent is currently on the road and heading out first to Cecil Georgia for the Sixth Race of the 2007 Racing Season. Keep up to date all race weekend long beginning at the South Georgia Motorsports Park on Friday Afternoon during the first of two 60 Minute Practice Sessions.
