The last time ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Brett Hudson started off his season at Salem Speedway he turned in an impressive top-10 performance behind the wheel of his Hudson Machine Chevrolet.
Two years later, Hudson heads into the fourth ARCA RE/MAX Series event of the season looking to rekindle the magic and put his familiar Salem face into contention once again.
“I’m looking forward to getting back in an ARCA car this weekend, ” said Hudson, a native of Kentucky. “I have a couple starts here at Salem, but the finishes have been exactly what we are looking for. Hopefully the setup we have will produce fast lap times and a good starting position. ”
Hudson continued, “It’s a long race even though it goes by fast. Salem is a rough place, but puts on a great show for the fans and even the drivers. No doubt that the extra seat time I have at Salem helps me, but we have to all the pieces together to be a contender. That shouldn’t be a problem for us Sunday. ”
The avid Salem late model competitor enters the event looking to make his 11th career ARCA start and adding a fourth top-10 finish to his resume. In 2005, Hudson burst onto the scene with a career best sixth followed by additional top-10 performances at Salem (April) and Berlin Raceway. Hudson feels it’s been too long since he’s had a good finish and this could be the weekend to turn everything around.
“I love racing in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, but the results recently haven’t reflected the hard work and dedication that my Hudson Motorsports team has. We have cars capable of finishing strong, but we’ve been attacked by the monkey. I think he’ll take a vacation this year and we’ll be back to stellar status this season. ”
