Barry Klinedinst Motorsports and 2006 Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) Champion Jason Covert made their first trip to the Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH on Friday, September 21st for the MACS sanctioned ‘Bob Myers Memorial Fall Showdown’. On Saturday the MACS tour sent the BK Motorsports team back to the Skyline Speedway in Stewart, OH for the second time in 2007 for another $5,000 to win event.
Jason set the sixth fastest time of the night at Hilltop and followed that up with a second place finish in his heat race. Covert then finished in the sixth slot in the dash to put him on the outside of the third row to start the 50-lap feature. When the green flag fell to start the event, Jason moved his Barry Klinedinst owned Pre-Mach, Inc. / Red Wing Shoes / Hershey’s Racing Engines / Baker Carburetion / Bam’s Auto Center / Kuppy’s Diner / Rocket Chassis Monte Carlo into the third slot behind David Scott and Steve Shaver. Covert rode behind the two leaders the entire 50 laps to finish third in his first trip to the small high banked oval.
The following night was not as generous to the current MACS point leader. Covert had to use a provisional to get into the 50-lap extravaganza, the first provisional he has ever had to use with the series. Jason started the event in the 22nd spot and worked his way up to the 16th spot when the checkered flag fell. With two races to go on the MACS 2007 schedule Covert sits on top of the championship standings ahead of Rod Conley, Mike Balzano, Doug Drown, and Matt Lux.
BK Motorsports and Jason Covert will take this upcoming weekend off in preparation for the MACS sanctioned ‘Big Kahuna’ at ‘The Rock’ Allegany County Speedway in Cumberland, MD on Friday, October 5th and Saturday, October 6th.
