Barry Klinedinst Motorsports and 2006 Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) Champion Jason Covert found themselves at Challenger Raceway this past Sunday for the Independent Racing Series sanctioned ‘Mega-Blitz’ that paid $5,000 to the winner.
Covert and his unlucky string of pulling bad pills continued at Challenger. The fact that the event was a pill-draw event didn’t help. “We had no idea it was a pill-draw event, ” Jason stated from his garage in York Haven. “If we would have known that, we probably wouldn’t have gone. ” With the bad pill draw Covert started in the back of his heat and was unfortunately unable to move up far enough into a transfer spot relegating him into one of the B-Main’s.
Covert made some adjustments and went on to win his B-Main moving him into the 50-lap main event. Jason raced his Barry Klinedinst Motorsports/Pre-Mach; Inc. /Red Wing Shoes/Hershey’s Racing Engines/Baker Carburetion/Bam’s Auto Center/Kuppy’s Diner/Rocket Chassis Monte Carlo into the tenth position in the final rundown. “I wish we could have run better but the pill draw seemed to hold us back a little. ” Covert mentioned. “It may not have made a difference with the way we have been qualifying so far this year but a chance to qualify would have been nice. ”
Jason Covert would like to send out congratulations to Beitler Motorsports, Robbie Allen, and driver Steve Casebolt for the triumph at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway this past weekend. Casebolt held off Dirt Late Model superstar Scott Bloomquist to win the $100,000 to win Dirt Late Model Dream. “I’ve known Mr. Beitler for a while and raced with Steve many times, and with Robbie (Allen) helping them out as well as us, it was like we helped in some way, ” an excited Covert said. “It was great to see those guys win that race. ”
Covert also wants to congratulate good friend Dave Leidy on his mini stock win at Hill Valley Speedway in Orbisonia, Pennsylvania. “I talk racing with Dave every week and for him to go out and win one of the highest paying races in the area is thrilling, ” Jason said. “I’m really proud that Dave won. ”
