Barry Klinedinst Motorsports and 2006 Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) Champion Jason Covert had a tough time these past couple weeks but was able to get things back on track this past Saturday at Virginia Motor Speedway.
Two weekends ago the Barry Klinedinst Motorsports team competed in the Hagerstown/Winchester Shootout. According to the team the weekend was something that they would rather forget about. Jason struggled all weekend trying to get a handle on his Barry Klinedinst Motorsports/ Pre-Mach, Inc./Red Wing Shoes/Hershey’s Racing Engines/Baker Carburetion/Bam’s Auto Center/Kuppy’s Diner/Rocket Chassis Monte Carlo but just couldn’t find the right combination. The struggles at both Hagerstown and Winchester led to two DNF’s in two nights.
The following Wednesday, June 20th, Covert entered the World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned event at Port Royal Speedway. This event was also another event that the team would like to forget. The team was again unable to find the handle on the popular yellow #43A and was unable to qualify for the $10,000 to win event.
This past Saturday Covert and team made their way to Virginia Motor Speedway for a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned $10,000 to win event. After a seventh place finish in his heat, BK Motorsports made some adjustments on the car and was able to finish the “B-Main” in the second position to transfer to the main event. Jason fought with way through the 24-car starting field to a solid eighth place finish against some of the best in the business.
The next night, Sunday, June 24th, Covert stopped at one of his favorite places to race, Hesston Speedway. Jason wasn’t as fortunate this time around as he was last year at the Huntington, PA speed plant where he won his first ever Mid-Atlantic Championship Series event. The team again fought handling issues and was unable to finish the event.
The BK Motorsports team will head to Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA for the World of Outlaws Late Models Series sanctioned Firecracker 100 paying $30,000 to the winner this Friday and Saturday night. On Sunday Covert will either be at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH for a $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event or Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway in Imperial, PA for the Red Miley Memorial paying $5,300 to the winner.
